Mandate The Classical Youth Ministry Committee (CYMC) will be a body of at least five members (see “b. membership” below) who will · Give youth a voice in Classis Alberta north by taking feedback to the committee via leaders and pastors. · To encourage and support the local church’s youth ministries by giving attention to their youth leadership, both volunteers and professionals. · To promote ministry opportunities (i.e. Intergenerational ministry, serve, encounters….) to the churches in CAN. · To encourage networking among the churches in the CAN · To supervise the work of the youth ministry consultant in a timely fashion. Understanding specific needs ministering to the youth in CAN. · For the purpose of evaluating the need to hire staff · To establish and continually evaluate the needs and job description As a committee we evaluate and hold each other accountable through prayer, encouragement, and verbal assessment. Membership That the committee will be at least five members, who have a passion for ministry to those ages 12-25. This will include: 2 members from northern Alberta 2 from central Alberta 1 established pastor Meetings Two meetings will coordinate with any preparations needed for the next Classis Alberta North meeting. One meeting dedicated to the distribution of grants.

Classis Youth Ministry Committee meeting highlights
Committee members: Wayne, Peter, Tamara, Ken, Ron November 6th, 2013
1. Wayne opening the meeting with prayer and reading of John 1:4-5 and John 11:21-26 2. Minutes of June 5 were accepted as written 3. The CYMC mandated was confirmed and sent to the Classis Interim Committee 4. D-6 Conference report a. There were five people that attended. b. The theme was Impress. We are called to impress the love and truth of God to the our children and the children with the culture we work and minister. c. We were encouraged to continually remove the silos in our ministries d. Marriage has a lot to do with the ministry of the church e. Prayer is an important part to all of this 5. Ron reported on his activities and visits. 6. An external review on Ron’s position is in process. 8. There was some time spent on encouragement and prayer. 9. Peter closed the meeting in prayer.

1. Wayne Bouwman from Lacombe Bethel joined the committee and was formally welcomed. 2. Ron DeVries reported on his activities from the last three months. We were encouraged by his work. 3. James Penner will be in Edmonton (Bethel CRC) on Feb 20 @7:30 leading a Hemorrhaging Faith workshop 4. The Youth Workers` Retreat will be on March 15-17 in Canmore. 5. The High School youth conference (Inspire) will be hosted in Kings during the Family Day weekend. 6. Opportunities to apply for grant money for youth ministry is Classis Alberta North will be available soon. Ron DeVries will be the contact. 7. A discussion was held about to promote the work of Ron DeVries and CYMC.
Classical Youth Ministry Committee
Oct 4, 2011 Attendance: Paul, Laurie, Ron, Cathy, Peter, Ken 1. The committee went over the budget items again so that the new members were familiar before the upcoming classis meeting. 2. Classis representatives for this Fall Classis will be Paul and Peter. 3. The updated committee mandate was confirmed. 4. Youth Workers Retreat is scheduled for March 16-18, 2012 in Canmore. Youth leaders and their spouses are encouraged to attend. The cost for the weekend is $185.00 per person. Youth Unlimited will do the promotion for this retreat. 5. Ron was confirmed to attend the Youth Workers Convention in November. 6. Ron gave an update on his activities. This was supported by the committee. 7. Brett Ullman is coming to Calgary and possibly to Red Deer if there is interest. 8. Next CYMC will be January 10, 2012.
